When heavy snow falls, fire hydrants can become buried. If you have a hydrant on or near your property, the Fire Department is asking for your assistance in clearing the snow away from it. It is not the responsibility of the Fire Department to clear snow/ice away from fire hydrants.
Because every second counts when fighting a fire, having the hydrant visible and accessible to firefighters arriving on a scene could make a huge difference when time is of the essence. It only take a few minutes to clear a path to a fire hydrant, but it takes a long time to recover from a fire. Please be considerate of our neighborhood.
